My Green Tour Italy · Via de' Martelli
A one-hour guided walk round Piazza del Duomo, the cathedral and the Santa Reparata crypt, then the climb up Giotto's bell tower on the Giotto Pass. Pick it for the one view the dome can't give you, the dome itself, and for 414 steps broken up by three landings.

My Green Tour Italy meets you at its Tourist Point office at Via de' Martelli 33R, across from Eataly, a short walk north of the cathedral. The guided hour covers Piazza del Duomo, about 20 minutes inside the cathedral and 10 in Santa Reparata, the crypt that holds the remains of the older church beneath the floor. Then you climb Giotto's bell tower.
The ticket is the official Giotto Pass, which sells for 20 euros: bell tower, Baptistery, museum and Santa Reparata over three days, no dome. The tower has 414 steps and no lift, with three loggias on the way up where you can stop, and its terrace sits at 84.7 metres, looking straight at Brunelleschi's dome. Since 9 March 2026 the tower has been under its first full restoration, expected to take four to five years. The terrace stays open, but the Opera warns views may be partly reduced, and visitors mention mesh at the top. Our post on the restoration has the details.
At $79 you pay more than three times the pass for an hour of guiding. That's a fair trade if you want the cathedral and crypt explained. If you only want the view, buy the Giotto Pass from the official ticket shop. Avoid 9 to 13 November 2026, when the bell tower is closed for maintenance.
Meet at Via de' Martelli 33R, across from Eataly. This is also where tickets are handed out.

★★★★★The Florence Duomo Complex tour was great since we finally got to this famous landmark. [...] Learning about Brunelleschi's dome added some valuable context. Everything about this tour was well organized and helped us get more than we ever would on our own.
★★★★★Our tour guide was not just knowledgeable but she spoke in a way that was easy ti understand. The crypt visit was goid and tge bell tower climb great.

The dome is higher and takes you past the Last Judgment fresco, but its passages are narrow. The bell tower has 414 steps with three loggias to rest on and a view of the dome. Our dome or bell tower guide compares them.
