FlorencePass · Piazza San Giovanni
A licensed guide spends about 40 minutes with you on the square, then takes the group into Santa Maria del Fiore through a dedicated entrance for another 45. Book it to understand a free building most people walk through in ten minutes, without standing in the public queue.

FlorencePass meets you at Piazza San Giovanni 14R, facing the Baptistery, outside the Orologeria Panerai watch shop next to Caffè Scudieri. Look for the FLORENCEPASS signboard. The first 40 minutes happen outside: the Baptistery doors, Giotto's bell tower, the marble facade and the story of a dome nobody knew how to build. Then you go in.
Inside, the group uses a dedicated entrance instead of the public line at the facade, which reports put at 30 to 45 minutes and over an hour in peak season. You spend about 45 minutes under the dome with an earset on: the Last Judgment fresco, Paolo Uccello's clock, the two painted equestrian monuments and the panel of Dante. Several guests say the guide took them behind the ropes, and some guides carry a tablet to show the fresco up close.
Know what you're buying. The cathedral is free Monday to Saturday from 10:15 to 15:45, and the Opera runs its own cathedral tour for 17 euros. No ticket for the dome, bell tower, Baptistery, museum or Santa Reparata is included, and the Opera says it sells no skip-the-line service, so read "dedicated entrance" as a group door, not a priority ticket. For $34 you pay for the guide, the earsets and the shorter wait. Fair, as long as you don't expect the dome.
Piazza San Giovanni 14R, outside Orologeria Panerai, between Farmacia S. Antonino and Caffè Scudieri. Staff check you in and hand out earsets.
The Baptistery and its bronze doors, the bell tower and the facade, with the history of the building site.
In through the group entrance, then the dome fresco from below, the Uccello clock, the stained glass and the Dante panel.
The tour ends inside or outside the cathedral. Stay as long as you like; the dome and Santa Reparata need a pass.

No. The listing excludes tickets for the dome, bell tower, museum, Baptistery and Santa Reparata. For the climb you need the official Brunelleschi Pass (30 euros) or a tour like the small-group dome tour.
Yes. Entry is free Monday to Saturday from 10:15 to 15:45, with no ticket. This tour charges for the guide, the earsets and a group entrance that spares you the public queue.
Guests report going straight in through a dedicated entrance. The Opera itself says it sells no skip-the-line service, so think of it as a group door. Our guide to skip-the-line claims at the Duomo explains the difference.
At Piazza San Giovanni 14R, outside the Orologeria Panerai shop, next to Farmacia S. Antonino and Caffè Scudieri, facing the Baptistery. Look for the FLORENCEPASS signboard.
