City Wonders · Piazza del Duomo
A guide takes up to 15 people through the cathedral for about half an hour, then sends you up Brunelleschi's dome at your own pace, with the Baptistery, bell tower and museum on the same ticket for later. Pick it if you want the dome and a short, sharp explanation, not a morning-long tour.

City Wonders meets you on the steps of the Museo della Misericordia at Piazza del Duomo 19/20, opposite Giotto's bell tower, under a sign reading "Florence Duomo Guided Tour, City Wonders & AFTOURS". AF Tours is on the Opera's list of official 2026 partners. The guided part is short: about 30 minutes inside the cathedral for the nave, the dome fresco and the story of the building.
Two guests report going in with the guide before the cathedral opened to the public, which means a near-empty nave for photos. Then comes the dome, about an hour, and you climb it at your own pace. Your ticket also covers the Baptistery, Giotto's bell tower and the museum for 72 hours, unguided.
The trade-off is depth. Half an hour covers the highlights and not much more. At $111 it costs less than the two-hour Walks in town tour and gives you less guiding. One more thing: the listing's "hotel pickup" and "gratuities" lines sit in its exclusions, not its extras.
Meet on the steps by the museum entrance at Piazza del Duomo 19/20, facing the bell tower. Look for the City Wonders and AFTOURS sign.
The nave, the Last Judgment fresco from below and the story of the dome, with the guide.
463 steps at your own pace, with the gallery inside the dome close to the fresco, then the lantern terrace.
Baptistery, bell tower and museum on your own. The bell tower closes 9 to 13 November 2026, the museum on the first Tuesday of the month.
★★★★★Just perfect. We easily found our contact person. We came back in a small group in the cathedral, before anyone else, a magical moment. Our awesome guide!! Then a skip-the-line entrance for the dome.. sporty but beautiful!!
★★★★★We went to the top of the dome. From outside saw a spectacular view of the city!
