Walks (Take Walks) · Piazza San Marco
Walks takes up to 18 people from Piazza San Marco into the Accademia for David, then into the cathedral and on through Piazza della Signoria to Ponte Vecchio. It doesn't climb the dome: book it for a different morning, to get your bearings in Florence and see David with someone who knows the story.

This is the city tour in the Walks range, and the most reviewed tour on this site by far. You meet at the Manfredo Fanti statue in Piazza San Marco, then spend about an hour in the Accademia with David and Michelangelo's unfinished Slaves. The Accademia ticket, 24 euros with the booking fee, is in the price and checked against your ID.
Next comes the cathedral with pre-booked entry, then Piazza della Signoria and Palazzo Vecchio from outside, the Porcellino market and Piazza della Repubblica. The tour ends at Ponte Vecchio, not at the Duomo, so plan your afternoon from the river. On Sundays and feast days the group stays outside the cathedral and the guide explains it from the square.
Why it's on a Duomo site: David is a ten-minute walk from the cathedral, and most visitors want both. The listing sells options with the north terrace or a dome climb, but the base price covers neither. Keep the dome for its own morning with a guided dome tour, or take the David and Duomo tour if you want everything in one go.
Look for the yellow WalksDevour sign at the Manfredo Fanti statue in the centre of the square.

Past Piazza della Repubblica to the bridge, where the tour ends.
★★★★★Patricia was a wonderful tour guide! She was very knowledgeable and friendly. We really enjoyed her insights as someone who was born and raised in Florence and has great passion for the history of her city. Seeing Michelangelo's David and hearing about the marble statue's history and detail was a true highlight.
★★★★★We loved seeing the statue of David and all the other art and sculptures in the Accademia. The tour of the Duomo, while short and not inclusive of the rooftop, was also very interesting. All the sites in between were interesting as well.
★★★★★Skip the queue was great as the waiting time for David and Duomo was over 1 hour and that was on a Wednesday morning in March! There was something of interest around almost every corner and the 3 hours passed by quickly.

The group doesn't go inside the cathedral because of Sunday mass; the guide explains it from outside. Pick another day if the interior matters to you. Our dress code guide covers the rest.
